More Organized, well kinda

OK, not to be proud or boastful or anything. Really, it is just that I'm crawling out of the pathetic hole I have sunk into. But I am thankful to the Lord, that He has helped me stick with this -

For about a month now we have been eating dinner at the table as a family 5 out of 7 nights per week. That is new for us - we always have eaten in front of the TV at different times of the evening.

Also, I have gotten back into the habit of doing family devotions 5 out of 7 nights per week. The kids do personal devotions 5 out of 7 nights as well.

Now, I wish I could say I have been as diligent in my own personal devotions, but . . . .

Anyways, with eating dinner together, I have been cooking a lot more. I think this is helping the kids to be healthier, and to eat in a more timely manner (they would eat so slow in front of the TV!)

I have been reading blogs where they plan out their menu for the week. I am going to try to do this too. To keep me organized and less stressed about dinners.

Monday - I had Girl Scouts - special dinner at the meeting. The boys fielded for themselves.

Tuesday - Kilbasa, mac & cheese (whole wheat SuperMac - so good!), oranges

Wednesday - Sarge's EZ Pulled Pork (we have church Wed. night - so after I get home from work, only have about 1 hr. home before we have to leave for church. Crock Pot meal is a must for Wednesday's), plus fruit and can of veggies

Thursday - Another awesome Crock Pot meal plus fruit and can of veggies

Friday - HWH and I are going to a retirement dinner for his parent's. Kids will have leftovers.

Saturday - FOOTBALL! Tailgating - probably Fried Chicken!

Sunday - not sure yet. Would like to try an italian dish I wrote down the recipe for, with some garlic bread and a salad.

Monday the 17th - Mini Cheddar Meatloaves

See, you blogging SAHM and Home School mom's are a good influence on me! Plus, props to Christ who is convicting me on this one. My kid's have to suffer enough as it is with my decision to work - I need to work harder to be the best Mom I can be. Well, that's a whole nother post!

I'm glad you're getting more organized. Good for you! We definitely need to work on not eating in front of the TV. We don't have any chairs at our dining room table, so I use that as an excuse.

I think the menu plan sounds great, too. And those mini meatloaves look so easy and good!

I am trying to climb out of a hole as well! I let my house go in the summer, and now I am having to get serious! Good for you for getting better organized!

My husband grew up eating around the T.V and my family had dinner at the table. So we have eaten around the table! Even now with adult kids at home with school and jobs we get at least 3 meals with everyone at the table!! It is great!!

Beth Moore has a devotional that I read every morning and it is the best I have seen. "Praying God's Word" devotion! Check it out!!

I've been trying to serve dinner at our table more often too...it's so hard to keep the honkin' thing cleaned off though! lol!

The pulled pork recipe sounds great! I need a crockpot meal on Wednesdays too...tonight I made Italian Shredded Beef...and was disappointed. It was very tasty...but just like a pot roast. I was hoping for more "Italian"...I think I'll try a different recipe before giving up! lol!!

I think it is completely wonderful to eat dinner together! Yeah for you for feeling convicted about this and then following through! =) Woo-hoo!
I hope this new trend keeps up around your house!

We're bad about eating in front of the TV, too. My husband is very good about encouraging us to eat at the table! That's awesome about your family devotions. We have started before but do not stick with it. It's on my list of "improvements".
