I watched this YouTube video over at the wonderful blog "Rambings From Life". Thanks Alexis for posting it. (I can't figure out how to get a video on here!) I urge everyone to watch it. The speaker, who is dying of pancreatic cancer makes some great points, and if we all lived by his words then many lives would turn out differently/better than they are now.
BUT, at the end, I am saddened. The speaker says "if you lead your life the right way, the Karma will take care of itself." "If you live properly the dreams will come to you."
karma is "the force generated by a person's actions held in Hinduism and Buddhism to perpetuate transmigration and in its ethical consequences to determine the nature of the person's next existence"
I am sad because, you can do all the "good" humanly possible on this earth - but it will be all in vain. Without Jesus as your Savior, despite doing all that "good" you will still suffer for eternity in hell. A lot of people think they are "Christians" because they try to do the right thing and do good in the world. Fact is, to be a Christian is to know Christ as your Savior, to have a personal relationship with Him. It has nothing to do with my acts on this earth - it's about my faith and belief as Jesus as the Son of God. I can't earn my way to Heaven with my good deeds. I will not be reincarnated into a "better" person.
It's sad to see that this speaker, who appears to be a "good" person either hasn't heard about or hasn't accepted the One who can give him eternal life.

Oh Vail, we have had to deal with this here on a personal level. My 19 yr old liked this boy and it was more than friends it was getting to a "I love you" stage. We told her he wasn't a Christian,
"He believes in God"! No that is not a Christ Follower. Two weeks ago we had to take a stand and say no more. He is not a believer. He traveled on a train to talk to us. We asked him questions about his faith and he couldn't answer them. So yes, people think they are believers but they ARE NOT. It is sad. My daughter is still not speaking to my DH and I, but we had to save her from a life of being bonded with someone who doesn't follow Christ. Someday she will thank us.

Great post!! I just read 23 minutes in Hell by Bill Wiese. This man had an experience where God put him in Hell. He describes the demons in detail among so many other things. This book made me, as it did the author, want to shout from every rooftop that hell is real and Christ is the only way. At the end of the vision Christ allowed this man to see Him, He also gave him a portion of what He feels every time a person is sent through this dark tunnel, a sadness that we cannot bare. It puts our job in perspective. If you want more of his story he tells it on utube. Thanks for sharing, Jen
Great post. Thank you for sharing it. I have been thinking about those who think they are Christians but aren't. Even those who attend church and serve on a regular basis. I pray they hear and believe the truth.
